QR Code Generator

Help โ€” QR Code Generator

Pick a type, fill the fields, and the code shows up right away, changing as you type. When you like it, download it as PNG or SVG. No account needed, no watermark, no expiry date: the file is yours and works forever, even if this site vanishes tomorrow.

Why there are "types"

A QR code is just a way to keep text inside a picture. What makes a phone join the wifi instead of showing a sentence is the shape of that text: each type here builds the shape phones recognise. Wifi becomes a line Android and iPhone read as a network; contact becomes a vCard the address book imports; event becomes an invite the calendar accepts. Which is why typing "my network is X, password Y" into the text field does nothing useful: you would get the sentence, and nobody would connect to anything.

The meter that complains

Under the code there is a meter. It looks at three things: the contrast between code color and background, the size of the logo in the middle, and the quiet zone around it. A light code on a dark background, an oversized logo, or a tight margin are the three classic ways to make a beautiful QR that no camera reads. The meter shouts before you send five hundred stickers to print, which is the only moment it is still fixable.

Error correction and the logo in the middle

Every QR code keeps a spare copy of its data, spread across the picture, so it stays readable when smudged, creased or torn. That is what lets you cover the middle with a logo. In the fine tuning you pick how much of that redundancy you want: L keeps 7% and makes the simplest code, H keeps 30% and survives a much bigger logo, at the cost of more little squares. If you are adding a logo, use Q or H.

PNG or SVG?

PNG is a regular image: good for WhatsApp, slides, email, a website. SVG is a vector: it never loses quality at any size, so it is what you send to a print shop when the code becomes a storefront, a banner or a sticker. If you cannot decide, download both. They are free.

Where what you typed goes

While you type, nothing leaves your browser. The code is built and drawn on your own machine, and a logo image you pick is never uploaded anywhere. There is exactly one moment when something reaches us: when you press "save to history". Then the content is stored, and the button tells you beforehand where it lands.

Public, private, and what cannot be saved at all

With no account, a saved code joins the public list everyone sees on this page โ€” that is the price of having nowhere to file it under someone's name. With an account, the same code is yours alone and nobody else can open its page. Because of that, sensitive types (wifi, contact, email, SMS, phone, WhatsApp and Pix) are not saved at all when logged out: they never go public, and logged out there is no other place for them. Generating and downloading, on the other hand, works the same for everyone, always.

Does the code expire?

No. The content lives inside the picture, not behind a link of ours: the QR you download today still works in ten years, offline, with no dependency on us. The flip side is that it cannot be edited once printed โ€” if the destination changes, it is a new code. A QR pointing at an editable link is a different animal, and not what this app does.
